Took 9th place at Footlocker in the seniors race, 56th at state cross country(16:46). Generally had a good time.

I won a half marathon, and ran a marathon that I got like 9th in, then won some random 5ks, and wrecked some relay runs before I dipped to do missionary work in Japan.

 

Short-Term Running Goals:

Get into shape, avoid injury, compete in distance events.

I'm gonna try to race 5k's every couple weeks, 10k's occasionally, and as we get into spring hop into some track races if they're available.

I'm gonna walk onto BYU's team. I know what it takes and I'm gonna do it. I'll probably wait until Fall 2019 to tryout for XC.

Be competetive in distance events throughout my life, and keep running.

Hey. I'm back. Hit a 7:45 average. It was slow, but it felt good to run. It was pretty cool. I wish I had run with a jacket, or at least gloves.

I'm gonna take some time one of these days to put in the last two years of runs. I probably ran 10 miles a week in a good week, and there weren't many of those, but I feel good. I feel strong, and I think I will be able to train smarter and harder and do some great things.

Average pace was 7:32. I did four one minute pickups to see if I could...and they hurt way bad. The paces went 5:20, 6:17, 6:18, and 5:44. It could have gone worse probably. I started off downhill and way too fast and turning around hurt so next time I won't do that. It felt good to get out and run.

So I ran 7.42 miles...at 7:42 pace. pretty dope. it hurt so bad. i have no speed and no endurance lol. It was my longest run in 22 months and I didnt die so that was nice. I was going uphill for 3 miles into the wind. it was terrible. my new shoes are slick.

I wanna take some old shoes off, but I can't figure out how. But I tried on another pair of new shoes. I really like the Tempos. They're nice and light. I was worred the first two miles, but after that they felt good. So the first mile was in the dark and up a big hill, so it was 11:46. After that was flat, and felt really good. The last half was low 7s and I felt good running at that pace. I'm almost acclimated, so feeling a lot better. It was a fun relaxing run.

I am glad I went on this run. I had several excuses that I could have used to not go, but after looking over my old entries I can see a lot of inconsistency that led to poor performance and workouts being harder than they should have been. I need to make sure I maintain a habit of consistency so that I can improve.

Ran on a treadmill up at Bearlake. A family came in halfway through so I couldnt't listen to my music. I really hate treadmills to begin with, but without my music it's untolerable. But there's no way Mom and Dad would let me run up at Bearlake.

Went up by Pineview and ran on a trail (north arm...?). It was fun. I felt relatively good and the zombie apocolypse scenery inspired me to average 7:10's. But fo real the fog and stuff looked straight out of a zombie movie. It was nice to get in a trail run.

I got stabbed in the name of modern medicine. Apparently because I went to a foreign country for two years there's a chance I got tuberculosis so I had to get stabbed for that. That is turning into quite the lovely purple spot on my arm. Then I got stabbed again. This was to prevent the flu. That one is pretty sore now. But I was able to run through my wounds and do it at an average of 7:03. I tried to relax, but this dumb voice in my head kept egging me on. I felt good, but not 7:03 good. Also I saw who I believe was Coach Farley right when I turned around. It was cool to see him.

Wanted to run some 400's on the track...but I got there before it opened so I did them on the canal road. They went 1:23, 1:17, 1:19, 1:18. My legs got tired way fast doing these. Did a long warmup and cooldown. I'm feeling really really tired. Part of it is not sleeping enough...mostly I think it's just cuz I'm not in shape yet. Things are coming along tho.

Met up with Brayden at the track. Did a long warmup. Did an 800 in 2:42, then 400's in 1:18, 1:15, 1:13, 1:08. The 800 really hurt. We took it out quick and I got pretty wrecked. the 400's were very nice. The first three felt really good. The last we took out quick and I had to push to finish. Then we did a long cooldown with some barefoot in there. It was very nice. It was fun to finally get in a run with someone and hit the track again.

Nice easy miles on the canal. Someone put out a bunch of lights on the canal...not a problem except my eyes couldn't adjust to the dark so I ended up seeing worse than I usually do, and then occasionally they had headlamps ducttaped to poles and set for strobe mode so you couldn't see as you crossed the road or went past poles. It was terrible. Other than that a nice relaxing run at 7:45.

Hobbyjogged down at the Odgen River Parkway or whatever. There was a race goin on so I probably confused some people as I hobbyjogged around. It was very nice though. I held 7s the whole time. I hit 8 miles at almost exactly 56 minutes. After that I did some sprints, and cooled down to my car. I'm feeling really good.

Easy run. Tried to take it easy, but my body took off in the middle. Wasn't a problem until I hit hills. I straight died on the hills. It was killer. But I felt good overall, I got good stretching and rolling in, and I'm ready for a hard week now. Averaged 7:08.

Great run. First time over 10 miles in a very long time. I was able to relax and keep things in control. It was slow-7:34's. My legs tightened up way good around 7 miles. I ate some bread before I left and drank a little water and I think that was a good idea. I was gonna bring some fuel, but I forgot.

I almost didn't get out of bed at all today....but I pulled it off. Hobbyjogged around at 7:19 pace, then did 5x10sec sprints up a big hill, then hobbyjogged home. My calves are sore/tight, and something around my quad/hip feels funny. Today I didn't have time to stretch. I've been good about it the last two days, so I think I'll be okay. And I'll stretch tomorrow.
